What we collect when you contact us, why, and what we do with it. Last updated October 28, 2026.
Who we are
True Grit Services is a family-run handyman company serving Calgary, Alberta and the surrounding area. We follow Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's PIPEDA where they apply. Questions about this policy can go to [email protected] or (403) 875-9888.
What we collect
- Request, booking and contact forms: your name, phone number, email address, property location, the service you need, preferred date or timeframe, your description of the job, and any photos you choose to attach.
- Technical details sent with a form: your IP address and browser type. We use these to prevent spam and abuse and to rate-limit repeated submissions.
- Phone, text and email: whatever you tell us when you contact us directly.
- Website visits: basic, anonymous usage statistics (pages viewed, device type, approximate location) if website analytics are switched on.
Why we collect it
Only to reply to you, quote and schedule work, carry out the job, keep reasonable business records, and keep the website secure. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for unrelated marketing. We will only add you to a mailing list if you ask us to.
Who handles it
Your form is saved on our website server and a copy is emailed to us. A few trusted services help the website work:
- Email delivery (SMTP2GO), which sends the alert to us and the "we received your request" email to you.
- Cloudflare, which delivers the site securely and runs a spam check (Turnstile) on our forms.
- Google, for the embedded map, customer reviews and, if switched on, website analytics. Google may set cookies when these load.
These providers may process information outside Canada, and are bound by their own privacy terms. We share your information with a subcontractor only when needed to do your job, and with others only if the law requires it.
Photos and files
Photos you attach are stored privately, are not shown anywhere on the website, and are only used to understand and quote your job. If we would like to use photos of finished work in our gallery, we will ask first.
Cookies
The site itself uses only what is needed to work. Google services may use cookies for maps and analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
We keep requests and job records for as long as needed to serve you and meet business and tax record requirements, then delete or anonymize them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Keeping it safe
Our admin area is password protected with two-factor sign-in, stored data is kept out of public reach, and the site runs over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, and you can withdraw your consent to us using it. Email or call us using the details above and we will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
